Loss of Fees

Key benefits automatically included:
  • 24 months maximum indemnity period can be extended to 36 months if required.
Other benefits automatically included:

  • Closure following an outbreak of infectious or contagious diseases, murder or suicide at the premises.
  • Closure because of vermin or pests or defects in sanitary arrangements at the premises.
  • Closure because of injury or illness sustained by any resident or employee due to food or drink poisoning.
  • Outbreak of human infectious disease within 25 miles of the premises causing either prospective residents to refrain from making bookings for accommodation or existing residents to cancel accommodation.
  • Prevention of access due to damage to neighbouring premises.
  • Loss or damage at your supplier's premises.
  • Alternative accommodation paid for, as well as food and removal expenses, if damage at the care home forces you or members of your family or staff who normally live in to move out, up to £10,000.

Glass Breakage

Accidental breakage of fixed glass is covered as well as accidental breakage of sanitary earthenware, mirrors and neon and other fixed signs

Deterioration of Frozen and Refrigerated Foods

Contents of frozen food cabinets are covered against loss or damage caused by breakdown of plant, leakage of refrigerant fumes or accidental failure of the electrical supply.

  • Sum Insured £1000. This may be increased if required.

Failure of Electricity, Gas and Water

Pays £50 per day following the failure of any one of these services following damage caused by an insured event.

Loss of Book Debts

Destruction of your books of accounts could result in you being unable to collect money owed to you by residents. This section:
  • Pays for tracing outstanding debts
  • Covers the shortfall of those debts which cannot be traced up to £20,000 limit.

Loss of Money with Assault Extension

Your money is covered against accidental loss or damage. Our definition of money is very wide and includes cash, cheques, travelers cheques, giro cheques, postal orders, current postage stamps, luncheon vouchers and pension books. All belonging to you or for which you have accepted responsibility.
Limits
  • Cash and signed pension books in transit or on premises during business hours £3000
  • Cash and signed pension books in unspecified locked safe or strongroom out
    of business hours £1000
  • Cash and signed pension books on the premises out of business hours not in a locked safe or strongroom £250
  • Cash and signed pension books in the private dwelling house of the proprietor, partner, manager or authorised employee £ 500
  • Crossed cheques, postal orders, money orders, bankers drafts, credit card sales vouchers and unsigned pension books £250000
  • Personal Money in the care home of proprietor and/or manager £250
  • Personal money in the care home for each resident for which you have accepted responsibility £100

Business hours shall mean from 8am to 6pm or at any other time when a person authorised by you to handle money is on duty in reception.

Assault Extension

Benefits
  • Death or permanent loss of sight or limb £20,000
  • Permanent total disablement from any employment £20,000
  • Temporary total disablement payable up to 104 weeks £100 per week

Legal Liabilities

To Employees (Employers' Liability)

Covers your legal liability to pay compensation for accidental bodily injury or disease contracted by your employees in the course of their employment.

  • Indemnity limit £10,000,000 any one occurrence.
To Third Parties (Public / Products Liability)

Covers your legal liability to residents and the public for accidental bodily injury or disease and accidental loss of or damage to property arising out of the business.

  • Indemnity limit £5,000,000 any one occurrence. This may be increased if required.

Malpractice

Covers your legal liability arising from the negligence of employees including the maladministration of drugs, medicine and the like.

  • Indemnity limit £5,000,000 any one occurrence. This may be increased if required.

Customer Care Service

Quality is remembered long after cost is forgotten. In an effort to meet your needs, we are able to provide a 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, priority assistance service to deal with emergencies:

  • Your own Account Executive available outside normal office hours.
  • Free 24 hours Emergency Helpline which gives you access to a network of approved contractors who will be able to help you with most of the emergencies that can arise.
  • Free Health and Safety Helpline which gives you access to specialist advice to assist you in dealing with Health and Safety legislation and the hazards that affect your business.
  • Free Legal Helpline which gives you access to confidential, expert guidance on any legal matter in connection with your business including Personnel and Employment Law.

Legal Expenses

Covers the cost involved in the pursuit or defence of your legal rights in or out of court up to a limit of £100,000 any one incident.

Cover provided includes legal expenses incurred in:

  • Appeal against the serving of a notice to alter the terms of the Registration Certificate.
  • Defending or appealing following temporary or permanent withdrawal of the Registration Certificate.
  • Recovery of unpaid fees from residents but only in circumstances where the fee is disputed and where at least £250 is in dispute.
  • Employment disputes and awards made against the business in certain areas of unfair dismissal.
  • Defending prosecutions against the business following prosecution under such legislation as the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 etc.
  • Pursuit of property related legal actions against third parties.
  • In depth investigation by the Inland Revenue or the Commissioners of Customs and Excise.
Important Note

It is a condition of the Legal Expenses cover that no employee is to be dismissed without insurers prior approval. The Free Legal helpline must be consulted prior to dismissal.

Preferred Customer Discount

Recognising that you run your Care Home professionally and that you have taken all reasonable care, we have negotiated a unique discount.

If you have been claims-free for one to five consecutive years a discount will be deducted from your premium.
